- The "Ethernet Headers" window allows the user to view a summary
-
- of the Ethernet data collected. The data is organized as follows:
-
-
-
- * Num: a decimal number assigned to each buffered packet.
-
- * ΓêåT: the time between Ethernet packets, expressed in
-
- milliseconds. Packet number 0's time is calculated
-
- from the start of collection.
-
- * Size: the size of the Ethernet packet.
-
- * Source: the source Ethernet address. If the user has
-
- entered a map from Ethernet addresses to names,
-
- the name will be printed preceded by an '=' sign.
-
- If not, the address will be printed in hex.
-
- * Destination: the destination Ethernet address.
-
- * Type: the Ethernet type. If the Ethernet type is found
-
- in the Protocol Map, the protocol name will be printed
-
- preceded by an '=' sign. If not, the type will be printed
-
- in hex.
-
- * E: a '*' sign will be printed if the packet is a runt (<64
-
- bytes), is oversized (>1518 bytes), or contains a CRC or a
-
- Frame Alignment error.
-
-
-
- In addition, the window contains a "Goto…" button to be used when
-
- the user desires to display a specific header without using the
-
- scroll bar.
-
- Double clicking on any header will display the packet's contents
-
- as will highlighting any header then clicking on "Examine".
